Jim Brommers Bergquist Facilitator/Coordinator

Since starting college with the intent of being a teacher or pediatrician, Jim has spent his career focused on the formation, care, and empowerment of young adults. 

Some of the work has included:

• facilitating retreats and various student events for several hundred students while working at Seattle University
• counseling and coaching hundreds of young adults
• leading over 30 service and immersion trips to places like Belize, Mexico City, Appalachia, Inner-City Chicago, and New Orleans post-Hurricane Katrina 
• co-directing the Capitol Hill Homeless Youth Center (Seattle)
• coaching several sports at the high school and collegiate level
• creating and leading an after-school wellness center at a local high school, 
• teaching at an Alternative Public Middle School
• completing a 20-week course on Wellness and Positive Psychology Coaching as well as Love and Logic facilitator training, 
• spending 10 weeks as a full-time ICU Chaplain Resident at Evanston (IL) Hospital

He was named a Division III All-American Offensive Lineman and Academic All-American, was a two-time All-Conference Lineman and a five-time All-Conference Track Athlete in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, held his college's discus record for over 25 years, and was inducted into his college's athletic Hall of Fame.

Jim is quick to admit that he also has many flaws, has made many mistakes, and has much work to do to keep good mental health.  

He lives in Santa Barbara with his wife, and is lucky to have his daughters (25 and 21) living in the same city.
